Event Description

Join us for Read&Resist! — A Literary Event dedicated to Freedom of Expression. The Read&Resist! initiative is a collateral event with Bad and Nasty* 2/20/2017: Not MY President’s Day—A Nationwide Day of Protest Through Performance. Perhaps you’ve been thinking a lot about Brave New World these days, or It Can’t Happen Here. Maybe you’ve been re-reading Brecht, or Levi, or even Anne Frank, and wondering, how did we get here, again? Perhaps you decided to finally take a look at Sontag on Riefenstahl – anything that might help in coming to terms with what seems to be, as she described it, “the fascist longing in our midst.” If you are interested in reading at the event, please email us: Hosts: Patricia Gaborik & Elizabeth Geoghegan, In Collaboration with Jahan Khajavi & Suddenly Every Wednesday and Art Activst Michelle Rogers. “The Resistance” image is courtesy of Michelle Rogers: *Bad and Nasty was launched by performance artists-activists Holly Hughes and Lois Weaver.
